Homework Assignment 4

Use the information given below to construct an equation of an ellipse in standard form and graph the ellipse. You may need to use the distance formula and/or completing the square.

1. The endpoints of the major axis are at (5,0) and (-5,0). The foci are at (-4,0) and (4,0).
2. The foci are at (0,7) and (0,-7) and the length of the major axis is 24.
3. The foci are at (2,1) and (2,10) and the length of the major axis is 9.
4. The foci are at (3,7) and (3,-7) and the point (5,2) is a point on the ellipse.
5. The endpoints of the minor axis are at (-2,6) and (-2,-1) and the length of the major axis is 10.
