Principal Shadowing

mention that I was shadowing him for the day and asked them if they objected to me being present for the interview.

The questions below outline the main questions my principal asked of each candidate during their interview.  From their responses

to these questions, he would probe for a deeper response or move on to the next question.

  1. Tell me a little about yourself?  Where did you grow up?  Where did you go to school?  College?

  1. When did you determine you wanted to be a teacher?

·         How did you decide to become a teacher?

  1. How did insert subject become your subject to teach?

  1. What is your failure rate?

  1. Why are you considering making a transfer?

(This question was asked second to those candidates who were not new to the profession.)

Once the candidate answered all of the above questions, he turned the tables and wanted to know…

  1. What would you like to know about Mill Creek?

(In the response to this question, the principal would give some statistics of the successes at the school.  Also, he

would talk briefly about the safety/security of the school.)

Once all questions were answered by both parties, the principal explained the hiring situation that pertained to the job they were interviewing for.

  1. Let me tell you our situation for next year.
